Higher Education Conference to Focus on Integrative Learning and Spirituality

SAN FRANCISCO (February 19, 2007)—An estimated 600 administrators, faculty members, student-life professionals, and chaplains from the broad spectrum of American colleges and universities are registered to attend a February conference on integrative learning and spirituality in higher education.



Keynote Bio: Diana Chapman Walsh

Diana Chapman Walsh is the twelfth President of Wellesley College, a position she assumed on October 1, 1993. She is the fourth alumna to head Wellesley, the nation’s leading college for women.



Keynote Bio: Parker J. Palmer

Parker J. Palmer is a highly respected writer, teacher and activist who focuses on issues in education, community, leadership, spirituality and social change. His work speaks deeply to people in many walks of life, including public schools, college and universities, religious institutions, corporations, foundations, and grass-roots organizations.



Keynote Bio: Eileen Wilson-Oyelaran

Eileen Wilson-Oyelaran became President of Kalamazoo College in July 2005. Dr. Wilson-Oyelaran has an extensive background in higher education and has held teaching and administrative positions at Salem College, Winston-Salem State University and Obafemi Awolowo University in Nigeria.



Keynote Bio: Stephen K. Mittlestet

Stephen K. Mittelstet has been president of Richland College for 27 years. Richland is the only community college to receive the White House Malcolm Baldrige National Quality Award (2005).



Keynote Bio: Alisa A. Miller

Alisa Miller, president and CEO of Public Radio International (PRI), is a respected innovator and spokesperson in public media who is helping to transform the way Americans receive news, information and entertainment.



Keynote Bio: Robert Kegan, Ph.D.

Robert Kegan, is the Meehan Professor of Adult Learning and Professional Development at the Harvard University Graduate School of Education.



Keynote Bio: Helen S. Astin

Helen S. Astin, a psychologist, is Professor Emerita of Higher Education and Senior Scholar at the Higher Education Research Institute, UCLA. She served as the Associate Provost of the College of Letters and Science at UCLA from 1983 to 1987.
